Clarkson Student Spotlight: July '09

Brian Senesac '10
Communications & Mass Media

Could life be any more interesting for Fairfax, Vermont native Brian Senesac? He's the owner of his own business, Piece of Cake. He's a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and the Clarkson Theater Company. He's a lifeguard at the Clarkson pool. AND he's a "zamboni ice technician." We're not sure what that means exactly, but we know he gets prime seating for all the Clarkson hockey games. What could be better than that? Let's see what Brian has to say.

Q: Why Clarkson?
A: For business schools, Clarkson was an obvious choice. I wanted to do a lot with entrepreneurship and I knew I'd get a crack at real-world business ventures my freshman year. I also had two older brothers who attended Clarkson in the 90's and had great experiences.

Q: What are your favorite things about Clarkson?
A: Well, of course Clarkson hockey is my favorite thing! But I really love the group projects and being close with everyone in my major. We're like a family because we're together so often! I also like that Clarkson is small but there's so much depth to the campus and never a dull moment!

Q: Tell us something people would be surprised to know about you.
A: I really like to work! I'm a certified skiing and snowboarding instructor, I'm doing EMT training now, and I'm a certified pool operator. All kind of random, but they come in handy.

Q: What has been your favorite class so far?
A: Small Business 113-114. It's not very often that you get to work with classmates to start a real business. I had a lot of fun overcoming all the challenges that came our way and I love the fact that I own my own business.

Q: What is your guilty pleasure?
A: I have one for winter and one for summer. In winter, I snowboard way too much! In summer I suntan way too much!

Q: What are you doing this summer?
A: I'm working as a lifeguard at Smuggler's Beach, it's a water park near my hometown. Not a bad way to spend a summer!

Q: What do you miss most about Clarkson over the summer?
A: This is funny, but I miss the campus high-speed internet and being able to walk everywhere. We don't have those luxuries in Vermont. And of course, I miss my friends!

Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: I would love to own my own web/graphic design company.

Q: What is your favorite smell?
A: Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch. Wait, better yet, I love the smell of anything I cook because I love cooking!

Q: If you could reincarnate as any animal, what would you be?
A: I'd come back as a monkey and just spend my days swinging in trees and throwing my poo. Monkeys have it the best!
