Graduate Admission
Clarkson’s Department of Physical Therapy uses the Physical Therapy Centralized Application Service (PTCAS) for all applications to the graduate Doctor of Physical Therapy professional program. All materials required for admission to Clarkson’s DPT program come from material requested, and collected by PTCAS. There is a charge for using PTCAS, but there is no additional admission application fee charged by Clarkson.
Read the PTCAS instructions carefully when you log-on to the web site, before you start your application.
The information that will be requested by PTCAS includes:
- Information about your background, where you live, and extracurricular activities during college.
- An essay, limited to no more than 500 words, that allows you to: “Demonstrate awareness of societal issues appropriate for an individual interested in becoming a health professional. When appropriate, reflection on personal experiences with, or exposure to, a rehabilitation profession is desirable.”
- Three references, two of which must be from professors.
- Information for classes already taken, number of credit hours for each course, and grades received for these courses. Future academic terms must be created that indicate all future classes so we can evaluate if all pre-requisite courses will have been taken and completed successfully by the time you enter the DPT program. In addition to entering course information, a transcript request form must be submitted to each college/university attended.
- A form for recording and documenting clinic observation hours.
